Homebrew changes for 2003
The following are changes to White Labs Inc.'s
homebrew yeast line-up. These strains will be available all year long:
WLP570 Belgian Golden Ale; WLP013 London Ale; WLP802 Czech Budejovice
Lager; WLP833 German Bock (new!).
The 2003 Platinum Series Strains, meanwhile, will be

New Strain Descriptions
WLP510 Bastogne Belgian Ale Yeast:
A high gravity, Trappist style ale yeast. Produces
dry beer with slight acidic finish. More clean fermentation
character than WLP500 or WLP530. Not as spicy as WLP530 or WLP550.
Excellent yeast for high gravity beers, Belgian ales, dubbels and
trippels.
Attenuation: 74-80%
Flocculation: Medium
Optimum Fermentation Temperature: 66-72*F
WLP022 Essex Ale Yeast:
Flavorful British style yeast. Drier finish than many
British ale yeast. Produces slightly fruity and bready character. Good
top fermenting yeast strain, is well suited for top cropping
(collecting). This yeast is well suited for classic British milds, pale
ales, bitters, and stouts. Does not flocculate as much as WLP002 and
WLP005.
Attenuation: 71-76%
Flocculation: Medium to High
Ideal Fermentation Temperature Range: 66-70*F
WLP833 German Bock Lager Yeast:
From the Alps of southern Bavaria, this yeast
produces a beer that is well balanced between malt and hop character.
The excellent malt profile makes it well suited for Bocks, Dopplebocks,
and Oktoberfest style beers. Very versatile lager yeast, it is so well
balanced that it has gained tremendous popularity for use in Classic
American style Pilsners. Also good for Helles-style lager beer.
Attenuation: 70-76%
Flocculation: Medium
Optimum Fermentation Temperature: 48-55*F
